Usually we have no visitors, but on Friday I went to the airport and saw one visitor off and met the next visitor at the gate an hour later. I love that you can still meet people at the gate in the domestic terminal in Australia.
Now we have Charles' son here until June 10. His first big overseas trip. Today we went to the maritime museum - not something I would do on my own-but it was an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon. The main attraction is the HMAS Diamantina -
"HMAS Diamantina (K377/F377/A266/GOR266), named for the Diamantina River in Queensland, is a River class frigate that served the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Constructed in the mid-1940s, Diamantina was active from 1945 until 1946, was placed in reserve, then was recommissioned as a survey ship from 1959 until 1980."
They let you climb all around the ship. There are also many small wooden boats on display. You could spend 8 hours there and still not see everything.
On Saturday we went to the West End Market which has a nice combination of produce and crafts and we had langos - I was happy to find out the people running the langos stand are actually Hungarian. And then for dinner we found some great pizza at Beccofino which is conveniently on the bus line that runs right in front of our apartment building. It really is a very useful bus line. I take it to the art museum and the library every week. It is a much easier location than out last location in Spring Hill.
I'm reading Apple Tree Yard which is filled with suspense - hard to put down. Last week I saw A Man for All Seasons and F for Fake - and the Orson Welles festival came to an end. Charles saw the X men movie. Next weekend is a long weekend for the Queen's Birthday. We have a car reserved but I'm not sure where we will go.
