Ile de la Reunion
Dec. 28th, 2013 06:51 pmWe have had a lot of adventures on this small island. Up until tonight we have been staying in shared airbnb locations, and tonight we are staying in a whole house, and wooo, it is very relaxing to us. Also in this place we have a washing machine, which is perfect timing. I washed every article of clothing I have w me, except this night gown I am wearing. We went grocery shopping this morning and now we are relaxing w perfect ripe french cheese and baguette. We are at the very southern most bit of the island - Saint-Joseph. Yesterday we had an incorrect address, and no internet and no phone, and so we were very lost. We eventually bought a sim for the phone, but even then the only phone number I had was the sister of the person we are staying with, so we ended up calling France! and we finally got the address, and still couldn't find it, bought a map and it had no street names on it! a map of the town we were in! It was a comedy of errors, but it had a happy ending. And we found the place today easily.
I am loving all the frenchness here! Clairefontaine paper! caramels w fleur de sel. drinking pastis.
In 2013 we were in 10 different countries and in 2012 it was 11 different countries. We'll start out 2014 in Mauritius. And then Australia.
We thought we might try this trip w only a purse and no luggage, but instead since we aren't going back to SA (as far as we know), we brought everything, about 12 kg of luggage each. We have no guesses when we will get back to Singapore to pick up the two large suitcases, we are starting to wonder what is in those big suitcases, since it seems easy to go months w just what we have now.
