I'm reading a lot of books. I just finished Scribbling the Cat by Alexandra Fuller and it was excellent. I also liked the first book she wrote (Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight). Also, I have recently finished:
Killer Country - Mike Nicol (second in the trilogy, Cape Town crime novel)
Running to the Mountain- Jon Katz (midlife adventures)
Red Ink- Angela Makholwa (not so well written...crime novel)
Cracks- Sheila Kohler (boarding school, Africa)
A Queer and Pleasant Danger - Kate Bornstein (autobio, Scientology)
Some of My Best Friends are White- Ndumiso Ngcobo (humor)
And today I'll start another crime novel by Margie Orford. Doing a little bit of painting, but mostly reading, errands/chores and internet. The days are sunny and cool. I love my neighborhood - lots of used bookstores, I can walk to Woolies or Spar or PicknPay for groceries. I can walk to two laundromats. I have two good internet cafes. The noise in my house is dogs barking, which is easy to live with. People on the street often say hello. We have good coffee beans from both Doubleshot and Bean There. There is a good bakery close by. Life is good.
