I am now living in Perth. It is a bit of a shock after Hobart and I am just barely getting over the jet lag and trying to find my way around a new city. So far the best part is the public transit - three free bus lines - and all buses are free within the center zone of the city. I've been to the grocery store (woolies), I have had some coffee, I have seen a movie - but I'm still barely adjusted to it. It is very warm. I need sunblock, hat and sunglasses every time I leave the house. The city library is closed until further notice.
Leaving Hobart was hard - we had friends, we knew where everything was, I enjoyed drawing, amnesty intl, shopping at Fresh, coffee at Pilgrim. It takes awhile to find things. We don't yet know how long we will be here. Leaving Hobart was also hard because we had to get our luggage down to 80 kg and we underestimated how much we had, so we ended up getting rid of an extra 40 kg of stuff! in one night! very exciting. We arrived at the Hobart airport w 81.5 kgs, so we really did need to get rid of everything that we got rid of - we went through it item by item. It was not the easiest way to declutter, but certainly it was fast, and we did get to keep the things that mean the most. We now each have one big suitcase and one carry on suitcase - which means we can walk through an airport w everything we own basically.
We had one great wkend in Melbourne - Victoria Market, Josie Bones, Three Bags Full, Cup of Truth, BBB, City Library
